كتب الصحفي عمرو طبش على حسابه الرسمي على موقع فيسبوك:
لا كلمات تُوصف وجع أم تودع طفلتها مريم أبو دقة،
ولا شيء في هذا العالم يُضاهي حرقة قلبها.
مريم، الطفلة التي أنهكها المرض، انتظر جسدها الصغير تحويلًا للعلاج… وانتظرت طويلًا، لكن الحياة سبقتها، وغادرت قبل أن تصلها الموافقة، محمولة بين ذراعي أمها التي احتضنت النهاية بدل الشفاء.

No words can describe the pain of a mother bidding farewell to her daughter, Maryam Abu Daqqa,
and nothing in this world compares to the burning ache in her heart.
Maryam, the little girl worn down by illness,
waited — her tiny body holding on for a medical referral… and waited for too long.
But life left her behind.
She passed away before the approval ever came,
carried in the arms of her mother, who held the end — not the healing.
Maryam died the way so many do in Gaza:
in silence, in slow suffering, and without the right to treatment.
